Ingredients

  • 1 pound white fish fillets
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup guacamole
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the fish fillets.
  4. Place the fish fillets on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until cooked through and flaky.
  5. Remove the fish from the oven and let it cool slightly. Use a fork to flake the fish into small pieces.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  7. Soften the flour tortillas by heating them in the microwave for a few seconds or by wrapping them in foil and placing them in the oven for a few minutes.
  8. Place a spoonful of flaked fish onto each tortilla, and roll it up tightly.
  9. Secure the taquitos with toothpicks to prevent them from opening during frying.
  10. Carefully place the taquitos, seam-side down, into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  11. Remove the taquitos from the oil using tongs and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  12. Serve the fish taquitos with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa.
  13. Enjoy these flavorful and crispy fish taquitos with your favorite dipping sauce!
