Indulge in the creamy goodness of homemade panna cotta topped with a vibrant and tangy strawberry jam. The velvety smooth texture of the panna cotta combined with the sweet and fruity jam creates a perfect balance of flavors. This classic Italian dessert is easy to make and will impress your guests with its elegant presentation. Serve chilled for a refreshing and delectable treat during warm summer days.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons powdered gelatin
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is steaming, but not boiling. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  2. In a separate small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin over the cold water. Let it sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
  3. Once the gelatin has bloomed, gently heat it in the microwave or over low heat until melted. Make sure it is completely dissolved.
  4. Pour the gelatin mixture into the cream mixture and whisk until well combined.
  5. Divide the mixture evenly into individual serving glasses or ramekins. Allow them to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.
  6. In the meantime, prepare the strawberry jam. Wash and hull the strawberries, then dice them into small pieces.
  7. Place the diced strawberries, granulated sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries release their juices and the mixture thickens to jam-like consistency, about 10-15 minutes.
  8. Remove the strawberry jam from heat and let it cool completely.
  9. Just before serving, spoon the strawberry jam over the chilled panna cotta. Garnish with a fresh strawberry if desired.
  10. Enjoy the creamy panna cotta with a spoonful of the tangy strawberry jam on top. It's a delightful combination of flavors and textures that will satisfy your sweet tooth.
