Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 3/4 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, then stir in the milk, pecans, and cranberries.
  4. Stir the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just blended. Spread the batter into the prepared pan.
  5. In a small bowl, combine 1/3 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg. Sprinkle over the top of the batter.
  6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pan before serving.
