This Country Fried BLT with Fresh Herb Aioli recipe takes the classic BLT sandwich to a whole new level. Crispy country-fried bacon is layered with fresh lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and a creamy herb aioli for a satisfyingly delicious meal. Ingredients

  • 8 slices of thick-cut bacon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 8 slices of sourdough bread
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped
  • 8 leaves of lettuce
  • 2 large tomatoes, sliced

Directions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. In a separate shallow dish, beat the eggs and buttermilk together.
  3. Place the panko breadcrumbs in another shallow dish.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Dip each bacon slice into the flour mixture, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat it with the breadcrumbs.
  6. Add the bacon slices to the hot skillet and cook until crispy and golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, fresh parsley, fresh dill, and fresh chives to make the herb aioli.
  8. Toast the sourdough bread slices in a toaster or on a griddle until golden brown.
  9. Spread a generous amount of the herb aioli on each slice of toasted sourdough bread.
  10. Layer 4 slices of lettuce on 4 slices of bread.
  11. Top the lettuce with the country-fried bacon slices.
  12. Add the tomato slices on top of the bacon.
  13. Finish with the remaining slices of bread, aioli-side down.
  14. Cut the sandwiches in half and serve.
