Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon pumpkin spice
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons cold butter, cut into cubes
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 cup heavy cream
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, pumpkin spice, and salt. Mix until well combined.
Add butter cubes and mix with a pastry blender or your hands until mixture looks crumbly.
In a small bowl, combine pumpkin puree and heavy cream. Mix until well combined.
Add pumpkin mixture to flour mixture and mix until just combined. Do not over mix.
Transfer dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead a few times until it comes together. Pat into a circle about 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into 8 wedges and place on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until scones are golden brown.
Transfer to a wire rack and let cool before serving.
Interesting Facts
Pumpkin puree is not the same as pumpkin pie filling.
Pumpkin spice is a blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and allspice.
Scones are a classic British teatime treat.
