Ingredients

  • 2 cups chickpea flour (besan)
  • 1 cup ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds
  • 1/4 cup chopped cashews
  • 1 tablespoon raisins (optional)

Directions

  1. In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat the ghee on medium heat. Add the chickpea flour (besan) and roast it for about 10-12 minutes, stirring continuously. The besan should turn golden brown and release a nutty aroma.
  2. Remove the pan from heat and let the roasted besan cool down slightly.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, cardamom powder, chopped almonds, cashews, and raisins (if using).
  4. Add the powdered sugar mixture to the roasted besan and mix well.
  5. Allow the mixture to cool down completely.
  6. Once the mixture has cooled, take a small portion in your hand and shape it into a round ball. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
  7. Gently press a raisin or cashew on the top of each laddu for decoration (optional).
  8. Let the besan laddus set for about 30 minutes before serving.
  9. Store the besan laddus in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
