Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round cake pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Add the yogurt and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Fold in the melted chocolate chips, stirring until combined.
  7. Spread the chocolate mousse over the cooled cake. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
