Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan with butter and set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, until well combined. Add the mashed bananas and vanilla and mix until well combined.
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack to cool completely.
