Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup of white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of white sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine 3/4 cup of white sugar, butter, and water. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is bubbly.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and carefully pour the hot sugar mixture into a 9-inch round baking dish. Set aside.
  4. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream, salt, and vanilla extract. Set aside.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and the 1/2 cup of white sugar until light and fluffy.
  6. Slowly whisk in the cream mixture until everything is combined.
  7. Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes, or until the custard is set and the top is lightly browned.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.
