Ingredients

  • 1 head red cabbage, sliced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 strips bacon, diced
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. In a large pot, cook the bacon until crisp.
  2. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened.
  3. Add the cabbage and stir to combine.
  4. Add the vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper and stir.
  5. Cover the pot and reduce heat to low.
  6. Simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Remove the lid and continue to cook for 15 minutes. The cabbage should be tender.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
