These melty cheese and tomato sandwiches are a perfect combination of gooey melted cheese, tangy tomatoes, and crispy bread. They are incredibly easy to make and can be enjoyed as a quick snack or a satisfying lunch. The secret to these sandwiches is using a combination of different cheeses, like cheddar, mozzarella, and provolone, which melt together beautifully and create a rich and flavorful filling. Serve these sandwiches with a side of your favorite soup or salad for a complete meal.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of bread
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: mayonnaise, mustard, or any desired sandwich condiments

Directions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Place 4 slices of bread, buttered side down, on the skillet or griddle.
  4. Layer each bread slice with a slice of cheddar cheese, a slice of mozzarella cheese, and a slice of provolone cheese.
  5. Top the cheese with tomato slices and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Place the remaining bread slices on top, buttered side up.
  7. Cook the sandwiches for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  8. If desired, spread mayonnaise, mustard, or any desired sandwich condiments on the top slice of bread before flipping the sandwich.
  9. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet or griddle and let them cool for a few minutes before cutting them in half.
  10. Serve the melty cheese and tomato sandwiches warm and enjoy!
