Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 cups cubed bread of choice

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the flour and mix until smooth. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.
  4. Stir in the salt, pepper, and cheese until melted.
  5. Pour the cheese mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Arrange the bread cubes over the cheese mixture.
  7. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the top is golden brown.
