Ingredients
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup of white sugar
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 cup of cold butter, cut into cubes
- 2 tablespoons of cold water
- 4 medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup of white sugar
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup of packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of butter
- 1/2 cup of light corn syrup
Directions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, 3/4 cup of white sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the water until the mixture forms a ball. Pat the dough into the prepared baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the apples, 1/2 cup of white sugar, and cinnamon. Mix until the apples are evenly coated. Spread the apple mixture over the dough in the pan.
- In a small saucepan, combine the brown sugar, 1/2 cup of butter, and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture is smooth and bubbly. Pour over the apples.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before serving.
