Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Add the buttermilk and melted butter and stir until a dough forms.
  2. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 5 minutes. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  3. Punch down the dough and roll it into a 9x13-inch rectangle. Roll up the dough tightly into a log shape and place in a greased loaf pan.
  4. Cover the loaf with a damp cloth and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool before slicing.
