Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Stir in the flour until just blended.
  5. Drop dough by heaping tablespoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
