Ingredients

  • 1 lb penne pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the penne pasta and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Drain the pasta and add it to the skillet. Stir in the basil and Parmesan cheese and cook until the cheese is melted and the sauce is combined, about 2 minutes.
  5. Serve hot with extra Parmesan cheese, if desired.
