Ingredients
1 9-inch deep-dish graham cracker crust
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup heavy cream
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Place chocolate chips in a small bowl and melt in the microwave for 30 seconds. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, eggs, nuts (if desired), melted butter, and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth.
Stir in melted chocolate chips.
Pour mixture into prepared graham cracker crust.
Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes.
Remove from oven and cool completely.
In a medium bowl, beat cream until stiff peaks form. Spread over cooled pie.
Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

It is popular in the United States and Canada.
The pie is named for the dark chocolate layer that forms at the bottom of the pie.
