- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until lightly golden, stirring constantly.
- Slowly whisk in the milk, making sure to remove any lumps of flour. Cook the mixture for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens and comes to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the cheddar, Gruyere, and Parmesan cheese. Stir until melted and smooth.
- Stir in the Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Adjust the seasonings to your taste.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix until well coated. Transfer the mixture to the greased baking dish.
- In a small bowl, combine the panko breadcrumbs with a tablespoon of melted butter. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the macaroni and cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
