Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of French bread
  • 6 slices of bacon
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the top off the French bread loaf and set it aside. Using a bread knife, carefully hollow out the inside of the loaf, leaving about a 1-inch thick shell. Reserve the removed bread for another use.
  3. In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. Crumble the bacon into small pieces.
  4. In a bowl, beat the eggs. Add the milk, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, crumbled bacon, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
  5. Pour the egg mixture into the hollowed-out bread loaf, ensuring it is evenly distributed.
  6. Place the bread loaf and the reserved top on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice into thick pieces and serve warm.
