Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9 inch round pans.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
Beat in the flour mixture alternately with the milk; beat until smooth.
Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven. Cake is done when it springs back to the touch.
Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
