Ingredients
2 cups of pre-cooked corn flour (masarepa)
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups of warm water
2 tablespoons of butter, melted
Directions
In a bowl, combine the corn flour, salt and warm water. Stir until everything is well blended.
Knead the dough until it is smooth and pliable. If the dough is too dry, add a little more warm water.
Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and roll them into balls.
Flatten the balls with your hands until they are about ½ inch thick.
Heat a griddle over medium heat and brush it with the melted butter.
Place the arepas on the griddle and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
Serve warm with your favorite toppings such as cheese, avocado, or sour cream.
