Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup raisins

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a baking sheet with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Using a pastry blender, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together the cream, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  5. Add the cream mixture to the flour mixture and stir until just combined.
  6. Stir in the raisins.
  7. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead lightly into a ball.
  8. Roll the dough out to a thickness of 1/2 inch.
  9. Cut the dough into wedges or circle and transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Serve warm or at room temperature.
