Ingredients

  • 4 cups peeled and sliced peaches
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the peaches, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Mix until the peaches are evenly coated.
  3. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and flour until a crumbly dough forms. Add in the brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Stir until combined.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Spread the peach mixture into the bottom of an 8-inch square baking dish.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of the buttermilk dough over the peaches.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and the filling is bubbling.
  8. Let cool before serving.
