Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar
  • 4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir to combine and let sit for 10 minutes until the mixture is foamy.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir to combine.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 7-10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and shape into a round loaf. Place the dough on a lightly greased baking sheet and cover with a damp cloth. Let the dough rise again for 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bread for 35-40 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
  7. Let the bread cool before slicing and serving.
