Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup roasted hazelnuts
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 2 tablespoons coriander seeds
  • 2 tablespoons cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Directions

  1. In a dry skillet, toast the hazelnuts over medium heat until lightly golden. Let them cool completely.
  2. In the same skillet, toast the sesame seeds until fragrant and golden. Let them cool.
  3. Toast the coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, and black peppercorns in the skillet for a couple of minutes until aromatic. Remove from heat and allow them to cool.
  4. Place all the toasted ingredients in a food processor or blender, along with the sea salt. Pulse a few times until the mixture is coarsely ground. Be careful not to over-process, as you want to retain some texture.
  5. Transfer the dukkah to an airtight container and store it in a cool, dry place.
  6. Serve dukkah as a dip with bread and olive oil, or sprinkle it over salads, roasted vegetables, or grilled meats for an added burst of flavor.
