Ingredients

  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for garnish
    • Directions

      1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.
      2. Add the spaghetti and cook until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
      3. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
      4. Add the garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes, and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
      5. Add the crushed tomatoes and season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring the sauce to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes.
      6. Add the cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss to combine. Cook until the spaghetti is heated through, about 2 minutes. Serve with freshly grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
