This Tandoori Grilled Chicken recipe combines the traditional Indian flavors of tandoori with the smoky char of a grill. The yogurt marinade keeps the chicken juicy and tender while infusing it with aromatic spices. Perfect for a backyard barbecue or a weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons tandoori masala
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Directions

  1. In a bowl, mix together yogurt, lemon juice, tandoori masala, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add chicken breasts to the marinade and coat them well. Cover and refrigerate for 2-4 hours.
  3. Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade and shake off excess. Discard remaining marinade.
  4. Grill chicken for 6-7 minutes per side or until cooked through and charred in spots.
  5. Remove from grill and let rest for a few minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
  6. Serve hot with naan, rice, or salad.

Interesting Facts

  • Tandoori chicken is traditionally cooked in a cylindrical clay oven called a tandoor, but grilling is a great alternative.
  • Yogurt in the marinade not only tenderizes the chicken but also helps to lock in moisture during the grilling process.
