Ingredients
- 1 cup tahini
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat together tahini and butter until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
- Add in both sugars and mix until well combined.
- Add in egg and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together baking powder, baking soda, salt, and flour.
- Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Scoop dough into 1-inch balls and place on prepared baking sheets. Flatten slightly with the palm of your hand. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, until lightly golden.
- Remove from oven and let cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
