Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl, then stir into the butter mixture.
  4. Roll the dough into 1/4 inch thick sheets, and cut into 2 inch circles.
  5. Place the cookies onto an ungreased baking sheet, and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  6. Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
