Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, chili powder, cayenne pepper, and cocoa powder. Stir the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until combined.
  4. Stir in the chopped nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cookies are set. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
