Ingredients

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves

Directions

  1. Steam the broccoli florets until tender.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the gram flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt.
  3. Add water gradually to form a smooth batter.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  5. Once they splutter, add chopped onion and green chilies. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.
  6. Add the gram flour batter to the pan and cook on low heat, stirring continuously.
  7. The mixture will start to thicken. Keep stirring until it becomes a lump and releases oil on the edges.
  8. Add the steamed broccoli florets and mix well, coating them with the spice mixture.
  9. Cook for a few more minutes, allowing the flavors to blend together.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  11. Serve hot with rice or roti.
