Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 (16 ounce) package spaghetti
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, to taste

Directions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is cooked through, about 8 minutes. Drain off the fat.
  2. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, pepper, and water. Stir to combine.
  3. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Taste and adjust the seasonings, if desired.
  4. Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti in a large pot of boiling water according to the package directions.
  5. Drain the spaghetti, then add it to the sauce in the skillet. Stir to combine.
  6. Serve with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
