Ingredients

  • 1 pound sausage
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 cup diced celery
  • 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 8 cups cubed bread, stale
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the sausage until it is fully cooked and crumbled.
  3. Add the onion, celery, bell pepper, garlic, parsley, oregano, thyme, sage, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until vegetables are softened.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage mixture, cubed bread, chicken broth, and melted butter. Mix until well combined.
  5. Pour the stuffing mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the top is golden brown and the stuffing is cooked through.
