Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 pound of sausage, casings removed
  • 8 ounces of mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 4 ounces of cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the mushrooms, onion, and garlic. Cook until the mushrooms are browned and any liquid has evaporated. Remove from heat.
  4. In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir in the cooked sausage and mushroom mixture.
  5. Unroll the thawed puff pastry sheet onto a lightly floured surface. Cut the pastry sheet into 4 equal squares.
  6. Place a spoonful of the filling mixture onto each square of puff pastry. Fold the pastry diagonally to form triangles. Press the edges to seal and then use a fork to crimp the edges.
  7. Transfer the tarts to the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with beaten egg wash.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the tarts are golden brown and puffed.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!
