Sand Art Cookies

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup butter, softened
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
• 1 egg
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup mini M&M’s or colored sugar sprinkles

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
3. Add the egg and vanilla and mix until combined.
4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
6. Using a cookie scoop, scoop the cookie dough onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
7. Press mini M&M’s or colored sugar sprinkles on the top of each cookie.
8. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden.
9. Let cool before serving.

• These cookies can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
