Ingredients

  • 5 cups of sugar
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of flavoring extract (optional)
  • Food coloring (optional)

Directions

  1. Combine the sugar and water in a large pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Continue boiling until the mixture reaches 250°F (121°C).
  3. Remove the pot from the heat and allow it to cool to room temperature.
  4. Once cooled, add the flavoring extract and food coloring (optional).
  5. Pour the mixture into a clean glass jar.
  6. Insert a wooden skewer into the jar and hang it over the edge of the jar.
  7. Allow the mixture to cool and crystallize for 1-2 weeks.
  8. Carefully remove the rock candy from the skewer and enjoy!
