Ingredients

  • 1 package of frozen phyllo pastry sheets, thawed
  • 1 pound of beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 cup of shredded provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef sirloin and cook until browned and cooked through. Season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Remove the cooked beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the thinly sliced onions and cook until soft and caramelized.
  4. Take one sheet of phyllo pastry and brush it with melted butter. Place another sheet of phyllo on top and repeat the process until you have 5 layers of phyllo.
  5. Cut the layered phyllo into squares or rectangles, depending on your preference.
  6. Place a spoonful of the cooked beef on each piece of phyllo and top with some caramelized onions. Sprinkle shredded provolone cheese over the filling.
  7. Fold the phyllo pastry over the filling to form a bite-sized packet. Brush the tops with melted butter.
  8. Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo pastry and filling.
  9. Place the filled phyllo bites on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the phyllo is golden and crispy.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
  11. Serve these Philly Cheesesteak Phyllo Bites warm and enjoy!
