Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, beat egg whites with an electric mixer until foamy. Add cream of tartar, and continue to beat until stiff peaks form. Gradually add the white sugar, and beat until glossy and stiff. Gently fold in the egg yolks and the vanilla extract.
Spread the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Scatter the peaches over the top, and sprinkle with the sliced almonds and confectioners' sugar. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
