Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped cabbage
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms
  • 1/2 cup chopped cooked bacon
  • Okonomiyaki sauce
  • Japanese mayonnaise
  • Bonito flakes (optional)

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
  2. Add the cold water and mix until a smooth batter forms.
  3. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the oil.
  4. Add the cabbage, green onion, mushrooms and bacon to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Pour the batter over the vegetables and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  6. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until the bottom is golden brown and the top is set.
  7. Flip the pancake and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  8. Serve with okonomiyaki sauce, Japanese mayonnaise and bonito flakes (optional).
