Ingredients
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
Directions
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and nutmeg.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the milk.
Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until just blended.
Chill dough for at least one hour.
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch thickness.
Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 8 to 10 minutes.
Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.
