Ingredients
- 1/3 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 2 large eggs
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add the molasses and eggs and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Scoop the dough into 1 ½ tablespoon-sized balls and roll in the granulated sugar.
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
