Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a medium bowl, mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg, then stir in vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture alternately with milk.
Fold in raisins. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for at least 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
