Enjoy the flavors of fall with this homemade apple cider syrup. Made with fresh apples and warm spices, this syrup pairs perfectly with pancakes, waffles, ice cream, and more. It's a sweet and tangy treat that will add a touch of autumn to any meal. Plus, it's super easy to make!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups apple cider
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup cold water

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine the apple cider, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. While the syrup is simmering, in a small bowl, mix the cornstarch and cold water until smooth.
  4. Slowly whisk the cornstarch mixture into the simmering syrup until well combined.
  5. Continue to simmer for an additional 5 minutes, or until the syrup has thickened to your desired consistency.
  6. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool for a few minutes.
  7. Remove the cinnamon sticks from the syrup and discard.
