Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (15 oz) can red kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed

Directions

  1. In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is tender, about 8 minutes. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add the chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper and stir to combine. Cook for 1 minute.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, red kidney beans, and black beans and stir to combine. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Serve hot with your favorite toppings, such as shredded cheese, diced onions, and sour cream.
