Ingredients

  • 1 package of store-bought pound cake
  • 2 cups of prepared custard
  • 2 cups of fresh fruit (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc.)
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream for garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. Cut the pound cake into small cubes and layer them on the bottom of a trifle bowl.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add the fruit of your choice to the sugar syrup and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the fruit mixture over the pound cake cubes in the trifle bowl.
  6. Spread the custard over the fruit in the bowl.
  7. Top with whipped cream (optional) and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
