Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the molasses, vanilla, and egg until combined.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until combined. The dough will be thick.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are set and the tops are cracked. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
