Ingredients

  • 1 box of German chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients to make cake
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup shredded coconut
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan.
  2. Prepare cake mix according to package directions and pour into prepared pan.
  3. In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Stir in melted chocolate chips, walnuts, and coconut.
  4. Spoon cream cheese mixture over cake batter and swirl with a knife. Bake for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. In a medium bowl, beat heavy cream and confectioners’ sugar until soft peaks form. Spread over cooled cake.
  7. Serve and enjoy!
