Ingredients
- 1 box of German chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients to make cake
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1/2 cup shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup confectioners’ sugar
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan.
- Prepare cake mix according to package directions and pour into prepared pan.
- In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Stir in melted chocolate chips, walnuts, and coconut.
- Spoon cream cheese mixture over cake batter and swirl with a knife. Bake for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a medium bowl, beat heavy cream and confectioners’ sugar until soft peaks form. Spread over cooled cake.
