Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring, until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
Add the broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, basil, salt, and pepper and bring to a simmer.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in the sour cream and parsley and simmer for 2 minutes.
Stir in the butter and simmer for 2 minutes.
Serve over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
