This Instant Pot teriyaki chicken breast recipe is a quick and convenient way to enjoy a flavorful and juicy dish. The chicken is cooked in a delicious homemade teriyaki sauce that is sweet, tangy, and savory. With the help of an Instant Pot, the cooking time is reduced, making it a perfect meal for busy weeknights. Serve the teriyaki chicken breast over steamed rice or with a side of vegetables for a complete and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Directions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  2. Place the chicken breasts in the Instant Pot and pour the teriyaki sauce over them.
  3. Close the Instant Pot lid and set the valve to sealing. Cook on high pressure for 8 minutes.
  4. Once the cooking time is up, let the pressure release naturally for 5 minutes, then do a quick release to release any remaining pressure.
  5. Open the Instant Pot lid and carefully remove the chicken breasts. Set aside.
  6. In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water to make a slurry.
  7. Switch the Instant Pot to sauté mode and add the cornstarch slurry to the teriyaki sauce in the pot.
  8. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  9. Turn off the Instant Pot and return the chicken breasts to the pot. Toss to coat them in the thickened teriyaki sauce.
  10. Serve the Instant Pot teriyaki chicken breast over steamed rice or with a side of vegetables.
  11. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
