Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup buttery crackers, crushed into crumbs
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the cheese and cracker crumbs. Mix well.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
  4. Slowly add the milk, whisking constantly until smooth. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper and cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce is thick and creamy.
  5. Spread half of the cheese and cracker mixture in the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Pour the sauce over the cheese and cracker layer, spreading it evenly. Top with the remaining cheese and cracker mixture.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
